Presépio Priscos
The Live Nativity of Priscos is one of the main attractions in Braga this Christmas season, 2021!
Known as the city of the archbishops for its many beautiful churches, Braga holds Europe's largest living Nativity scene. The main objective is to bring the focus of the Portuguese Christmas into the image of the child of Bethlehem.
The Live Nativity Scene is an opportunity to take a trip to the time when Jesus was born. About 800 participants bring the story of Christ's birth to life in more than 90 different scenery that trace back to the Egyptian, Jewish, Roman, Assyrian, Greek, and Babylonian cultures. The space is about 30,000 m2 which, by itself, says a lot about the grandeur of the event.
We can find various crafts that existed during the period of Jesus, such as blacksmiths forging and tempering the iron, the shoemaker fixing broken sandals, the baker kneading the dough, and shepherds taking care of their herds. Visitors can also enjoy a wide gastronomic offer available, like the Roman bread; Cherry liquor, and the famous pudding "Abade de Priscos", which the pandemic’s situation might have an impact on its offering in this year.
A design that combines the days of Christ with the true Christmas spirit!
Moe’s Consulting team worked with Live Nativity of Priscos to create the event's advertising design (outdoors, invitation card, image treatment, and poster).
Our design was inspired by the idea of traveling back in time to the period of Jesus. This helps create a memorable graphic language and association with the Nativity of Priscos to help connect with a diverse audience. The colors and details built into the design refer to the Christmas season and the story of Jesus. While red, more religiously, represents Jesus’ blood, the golden details reflect luminosity and the star that guided the three Magi to the cave where Jesus was born.
The design was also supported with real images of the nativity scene from previous years to make the event more tangible for the public.
